Simplistic Vanilla Smoothie Bowl

A beautifully simple, flavourful and easy smoothie bowl, taking the grand total of 5 minutes to make from start to finish. Vanilla is one of my favourite flavours and I love to use it in as many things as possible. It brightens up any smoothie, bringing to the table a sweet yet subtle flavour that goes well with so many brilliant ingredients.  

The addition of oats to this smoothie bowl allows the smoothie bowl to take on a different consistency; there is a satisfying thickness that needs a spoon while giving you slow releasing energy throughout the morning. Perfect for your pre workout fuel. Add in more almond milk to make this a more runny, drinkable smoothie and get creative with your toppings!

Makes 1
2 frozen bananas (or unfrozen and add 5 big ice cubes)
 ½ cup almond milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
¼ cup gluten free oats (uncooked) 
1 tablespoon rice malt syrup
1 teaspoon lucuma
1 teaspoon protein powder – I've used pea protein here
toppings: washed and sliced strawberries, blueberries and passion fruit




Pop all the ingredients in your blender and blend on high for about 30 seconds.
Pour into your bowl and add toppings, I recommend strawberries, blueberries and passion fruit.
